adding to the controversy of recent ahmadinejad's comments on state of isreal, a video has surfaced of him talking to an elite audience of mullahs about his experience in the UN when he spoke in the general assmebly. persumably he was overwhelmed by the feeling that he was surrounded by the "hand of god" which kept the audience in rapture, hanging to his every word, not even blinking! He also refers to a halo of light from "above" that engulfed him as he stood on the podium.
bellow i have provided a link to this video footage along with a transcript in english for your delight and wonder. ironically the man who ahmadinejad is talking to is one of his most ardent critits; ayatollah javadi amoli ! they way he is noding his head in agreement makes me think he must be doing a happy salsa dance in his head, knowing what a gem of a bluner he is catching on video!
although my first reaction was to laugh out loud, on other viewings several questions started to form in my head:
i say i was a fool and did not know the extent of his madness but how about the ones who worked hard to get him elected? his avid supporters? maybe the general public was not aware, perhaps his avid followers, the basiji didnt quite think he would be this foolish, but the main policy makers, the ones who are part of "A" crowd didn't know either? this is very hard to believe since they often know each others history to the minuute details: who is whose father, who is whos son-in-law, who studied where and so on and so forth. he had to be approved by the "approval committee" so he could even be qualified as a candidate.
if they didn't know, then how was ahmadinejad able to pull such a big wool over their eyes? if they did know however, then what is the big plan in store for iran? his recent expression of opinion on how isreal should be wiped from the face of the earth, although not new among the extremists in power in iran, could not have come in worst times. does the government really hopes for a confrontation to prolong the life of the islamic republic? perhaps the conspiracy theorists are all right in suggesting that iran is in fact looking for a war so that it can justify more pressure and hardship and under-the-table deals just like during the iran-iraq war. after all war is one the most lucrative bussinesses out there.
could he possibly be that much of an idiot to really believe this from his heart?!
could he be this unwordly to not recognize a "spot light" would be shone on him if he were to stand on the platform for his speach?
how could his advisors not point it out to him? after all bush doesnt know many a wonders either, but at least he has condi to give him permission for when he needs to go to the washroom!
if you are interested in understand his motivations have a look at this quote here from hoder's website to get a start on this trecherous road: "Is Ahmadinejad's era a continuation of Khomeini's? Khomeini's movement was largely symbolized by Imam Hossein, while Ahmadinejad's (or better to put it, Mesbah Yazdi's) era is driven by Imam Mehdi (Imam-e Zaman) as its central symbol. Imam Hossein's story, although exaggerated by Iranians, is a historical fact that has really happened. While Imam Zaman is something that might happen somewhere, some time. Even many Shia scholars have serious doubts about its truth. Hossein's movement was a political rebellion against the status quo while Mehdi has been hiding for centuries for no specific reason. The different between Khomeini and Mesbah is between Hossein and Mehdi, between heroism and conservatism, between reality and imagination. -- November 24, 2005"
