atomic bomb on iran

posted Friday, 5 August 2005

August 6th 1945 - Hiroshima
August 9th 1945 - Nagasaki

bargeboo: i wonder ... if US had dropped those bombs on two iranian cities, say shiraz and mashhad, would iranians been able to forgive it in just one generation with such apparent dignity that japanese have? i wonder what we would have taught our children about the west? what kind of accelerated program we would have placed atomic bomb creation on? how would we have handled something like that?

we rant on and on about our shot-down airbus, about our 8 year war that took a million lives and left many more handicapped and affected; we foam at the mouth and swore and kick up dust storms aplenty about US' involvement in countless atrocities around the world, including iran.

if the bombs were dropped on us, the whole world would not have seen rest since. we would have devoted even less money in bettering our economy, taking care of our own people, making sure all buildings are safe against natural disasters for example. even more money would have gone into underground terrorist groups, towards military, weapons and teaching the great satan a lesson he would never forget.

but how is it that the japanese learned to find peace when they could have easily gone into a battle that would have lasted for generations to come? how were they able to find themselves again, to start over the way they did?

and no, don't talk to me about the japanese having been weakened by the war ... since when being the underdog has stopped the insanity that is palestine and israel?
and no, don't you argue that the japanese live in an island; that they know they need the world to survive; that they knew they could not go on and be the country they have become without ties to the US ... since when economic desperation driven the likes of castro of cuba to forgive the past?

many of us are stuck in our pride and in our desperate need for revenge, be it either an apology or bloody murder. sometimes i wish we could be a little less iranian and little more japanese.
