beautiful gillan

posted Sunday, 10 August 2003

bargeboo: here is "banafshe" again, our friend from rasht/gilan.  her pride in her homeland and her love for iran is particularly evident in this post.

you may hear many criticisms, many harsh words about the state of ruins that iran is in these days, but every sigh and every wishful thought, is only because of the intense love that i dare say each and every Iranian feels towards his/her land. you ask why we always have an undertone of sadness when we talk about iran? its because we just care bloody too much.

on route to gilan (a northern province of iran, by the caspian sea), after taking the national university exam

and then after you reach rasht (city in north of iran) with the sweetest of fatigues, and you murmur this song to yourself:

how beautiful is gilan

how beautiful is gilan
