blood of martyrs

posted Thursday, 7 August 2003

bargeboo: the text bellow is from the personal weblog of "roham".  now this guy is an interesting fellow. he is a dedicated follower of imam hossein (Prophet Muhammad's grandson and third Imam of Shia Muslims) and he writes often about what he thinks the true islam should be and how things are moving in the "wrong" direction in iran.  and he does have a poetic pen. internet had not only opened the door for the unhappy and repressed souls in iran and abroad, it has also created a platform for the elements of the government. these representatives range from fanatics to those who have been heavily influenced by religion in their up bringing. some are blindly following and defending all the rulers' actions and some seem rather confused and in search of meaning to the hatred and resistance they are facing.

i have added here one of his posts to show the many parts of the puzzle that is today’s iran. Soon i will add some of the comments that his visitors have left for him. Equally interesting.

many of these "true muslims" have been participants of the 8 year war of iran and iraq in the 80s. they have fought along with their friends, average age around 18 and many have seen them die. similarities to vietnam war pretty much ends there if you are thinking of that - being the closest "un-glamorized" war we have known in the last century. these soldiers of allah, relished martyrdom. they saw it as an elevated and chosen state and many went willingly. whether they were made fools by the propaganda or whether they were prisoners of their own believes remains a matter for debate.

Oh martyrs rise from the grave and look at what is happening

then if you wanted to and if you felt like it

also have a look at the city of tehran

no, no, my mistake; close your eyes; turn your head away

but then again, do look, look carefully

because if it wasn’t for you and the sanctity of your blood then this city would have been destroyed by now

and god's fury would have brought it down long time ago

oh decapitated tulips (tulip is the symbol of a martyr in iran)

i don’t know if this is the city of martyrs or the city of golden cheek girls

with outrageous makeup and bodies, half naked

oh lost friends,

have you not been torn to pieces for defending the land and sanctity of these same people?

and if you did not show that much courage and goodness

then these same ladies and girls, lovers of nakedness and these same delicate and beautiful boys … then wouldn't you have to call them by arabic names?!!

do you know what i am trying to say?

come, lets have shame and remember that war is not over. only the front has changed.

how can we answer to the mother who provided for the apple of her eyes by washing clothes and then sent him to war … and then years later they brought her back a handful of bones and told her, here, this is the boy whom you have been waiting for.

my god.

this place has lost the scent of the martyrs,

now the city is filled with the smell of “charlie” clone
