Latest news on Iran - election results, protests and candidates

posted Monday, 15 June 2009
In the wake of all the unrest in Iran, I can see that the latest news are all available, from major news outlets to facebook, twitter and YouTube videos and personal weblogs.

Have a look at this video link - the latest, in which Zahra Rahnavard (Whom I believe to be Mossavi's wife) is speaking to a crowd who seem to be student leaders. They are organizing their plans for the next steps, exchanging phone numbers and outlining the plans that Mossavi is making along with the protestors.  She is also restating the ideas behind this campain. The commentators on the vidoe attempt to give a general idea of the conversation so perhaps another attempt at translation is not necessary. Read the comments on the vidoe to see the rough translations.

In the next few days however, what I will try to do is to translate the full content of the unprecedented debates that took place among the candidates in order to give a clear impression of what their platforms were. These debates were unique as they were the first of their kind, like of which has not been seen even in the "golden era" of Shah's regime.

 Stay tuned.
