the beginning - why?

posted Saturday, 2 August 2003

:: i have high hopes for this website. pedram m. and h. derakhsghan said it well. there is a need for more english weblogs by iraninas. so here it is ... a bridge over a chasm of ignorance, stereotype and curiosity: the ultimate answer to all the "where are you from"s.

:: this is a selection of translated iranian weblogs, books, scripts, poetry, commentary conversations, and more.

:: this is a peek at iraninans living their lives. things that i have always wished others could read so they could see the true depth of a rich culture, widely misrepresented and often misunderstood.

:: sometimes you may come across content that is intended for adults only. The purpose for their inclusion is not just shock value, but to show a culture so diverse and multi faceted that does not lend itself to any one descriptive category.

:: most of the translations are not exact to the letter although i will try to keep it as close as possible. reason is mostly speed and volume of content, or sometimes i just could not do better. i always appreciate any suggestions or corrections you might have.

:: i hope you find the site unique and interesting. i am always looking for more farsi content. if you think there is a text somewhere that its translation would benefit our non-farsi speaking friends around the world, by all means, send it to me: bargeboo[at]yahoo[dot]com.

:: here is to tolerance through knowledge.
